Valleys of Neptune

EEE a music moment; March 9 only a few days away Jimi Hendrix's unreleased CD comes out . . . apparently there's "still a decade of unreleased music and video" which his sister Janie, president and CEO of Experience Hendrix and Authentic Hendrix wants to bring out to the world every 12 to 18 months. How exciting for Jimi . . .

For some reason I only just saw Tom Ford's A Single Man and it was quite amazing. Besides the interesting story the film itself was really interestingly done and well executed.. except for the 10 minute break in the middle when the film shut off for some reason in the theatre but that's wasnt Tom's fault :]
Two things that were especially worthy of note:
  • seeing the teenagers in the movie time at school smoking everywhere and wearing all black with great big hair... why isn't everything like this anymore?? It's a question worth asking
  • the fab fab Lois (Aline Weber) who was Kenney's girlfriend... she didn't say anything the whole movie except whispering sweet songs in his ear but she completely ultrified the bullet point above. Apparently she's a model too . . .

New Weird America

Today the snowstorm hit... actually last night, to the point where i've been stuck inside all day. I spent it watching some Full Throttle which really put me in the most delightful mood. It's quite nice though, I slightly feel as if i'm in one of those Jane Austin novels locked up in my little house with nothing to look at but miles and miles of white blankness. . . a little strange yet more than comforting.

Odilon

Friday night I met the adorable Harold Kuhn, assistant designer to Stacey Clark at Odilon.. you must check them out their ready to wear is contemporary and unique, overall explosive to wear.

My favorite's from the Fall/Winter 2010 collection
  • Leggings and long sleeve shirt in nylon-coated jersey . . . quite an inovative feel (think modern acrobat)
  • Jacket in washed leather and rabbit fut . . . really funky
  • Raincoats in liquid vinyl PVC  and another in nylon-coated spiderweb organza . . . an interesting take on the raincoat. They make everything look so fresh and modern

Check it out here

Seven is 10 Party

What an interesting party... I love seeing the all out fashion and crazies. Some noteable outfits:

  • someone with huge black and white spikes on his back that looked almost like a modern mutan ninja turtle shell

  • a headband made of huge plastic circular discs topped on another

  • Sam Edelman Zoe booties . . . there were quite a few of those babies

Photobucket

An ode to the great Alexander McQueen . . . it's truely a great loss. He left us with an outrageous last collection to remember him by, one that pushed all the boundaries fashion has ever hoped to see, with aliens and inspiration from other worldly lands. Maybe they took him captive to design for them. . . that's my theory. None the less it's a black day in the realm of fashion.

A little quote by Alex to get us by . . .

“I think it’s important to look at death if it comes under the word macabre because I think that it is part of life. I’ve always been fascinated by the Victorian period of death where they used to take pictures of the dead. It’s not about brushing it under the carpet like we do today. It’s about celebrating someone’s life. I don’t think it’s a bad thing, I think it’s a very sad thing, a melancholic thing. It’s a very romantic thing because it means the end of a cycle. Everything has an end. The cycle of life is a positive thing because it gives room for new things to come.”

WILDFOX SUMMER 2010

Okkk so maybe there's not soo much to it but their ads are ads are always a girls best friend aannd it doesn't hurt that their clothes are THE most comfy and wearable. . you could spend a week wearing one of their tee-shirts while dancing around town. a very necessary necessity for summer

Grammay Sue

i have to say the thing that you're not supposed to say... and that is that the grammy's are a huge disappointment. taylor swift and the beyonc... really? is that truely the best that there is out there in the whole musical spectrum?? what's most aggrivating is that the awards never branch out to anything exciting and truely iiintterestting . . i mean was single ladies REALLY the song of the year, the one that we jumped around to most and pinched ourselves every time it came on? not exactly. not to sound so depressingly satirical but that's what the grammy's are lately.. DEPRESSING! why not add some juice and some new music besides the main streem GAAGAA?? what abboutt.. some of those other more exciting musical choices? santogold ; goldfrapp ; likke li ; ze kills  to name a few. . maybe they're not radio hits (thank goodness for that.. they'd be overdone) but they're still well known . . come on grammy bring in some excitement!

freja

how exotic it is watching freja trumping around like a little animal. if only more people, and when i say that i mean models, made entrancing video's like this. i don't kno why we see videos such as this as art... but they undeniably are. what's so captivating?? it's allure at it's finest.
